Deep learning for biomedical photoacoustic imaging: A review

نویسندگان

چکیده

Photoacoustic imaging (PAI) is a promising emerging modality that enables spatially resolved of optical tissue properties up to several centimeters deep in tissue, creating the potential for numerous exciting clinical applications. However, extraction relevant parameters from raw data requires solving inverse image reconstruction problems, which have proven extremely difficult solve. The application learning methods has recently exploded popularity, leading impressive successes context medical and also finding first use field PAI. Deep possess unique advantages can facilitate translation PAI, such as fast computation times fact they be adapted any given problem. In this review, we examine current state art regarding PAI identify directions research will help reach goal applicability

Recent Advances in Photoacoustic Imaging for Deep-Tissue Biomedical Applications

Photoacoustic imaging (PAI), a novel imaging modality based on photoacoustic effect, shows great promise in biomedical applications. By converting pulsed laser excitation into ultrasonic emission, PAI combines the advantages of optical imaging and ultrasound imaging, which benefits rich contrast, high resolution and deep tissue penetration. In this paper, we introduced recent advances of contra...

Biomedical photoacoustic imaging.

Photoacoustic (PA) imaging, also called optoacoustic imaging, is a new biomedical imaging modality based on the use of laser-generated ultrasound that has emerged over the last decade. It is a hybrid modality, combining the high-contrast and spectroscopic-based specificity of optical imaging with the high spatial resolution of ultrasound imaging. In essence, a PA image can be regarded as an ult...

Deep learning-based CAD systems for mammography: A review article

Breast cancer is one of the most common types of cancer in women. Screening mammography is a low‑dose X‑ray examination of breasts, which is conducted to detect breast cancer at early stages when the cancerous tumor is too small to be felt as a lump. Screening mammography is conducted for women with no symptoms of breast cancer, for early detection of cancer when the cancer is most treatable an...

Non-contact biomedical photoacoustic and ultrasound imaging.

The detection of ultrasound in photoacoustic tomography (PAT) usually relies on ultrasonic transducers in contact with the biological tissue through a coupling medium. This is a major drawback for important potential applications such as surgery. Here we report the use of a remote optical method, derived from industrial laser-ultrasonics, to detect ultrasound in tissues. This approach enables n...

Deep-penetration photoacoustic array imaging of calcifications.

Calcifications are one of the most important indicators for early breast cancer detection. We explore the feasibility of deep-penetration photoacoustic (PA) imaging of calcifications based on a medical ultrasound array imaging platform. Intralipid and chicken breast phantoms embedded with different-sized hydroxyapatite (HA) particles, which are the major components of calcifications, were image...
